RICHMOND, Va. — The philanthropic arm of energy company Dominion is involving Virginia students in a tree-planting project leading to Arbor Day.

Called “Project Plant It!”, the program will be busy through Friday with Dominion and its forestry team leading tree-planting programs at schools across Virginia. First stop is Tuesday at Woodville Elementary School in Richmond.

The tree-planting team will make stops through the week in Charlottesville, Goochland County, Petersburg and Fairfax County. Arbor Day traditionally is the last Friday in April.

In addition, the program will involve 33,000 students in Virginia and Maryland, among other states, by distributing redbud tree seedlings for planting.

Dominion Resources is the parent company of Dominion Virginia Power. The Dominion Foundation supports nonprofit causes to promote education, the environment and other causes.
