LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — At least seven women have been fondled against their will by an unknown man in a busy Fairfax County shopping area during the past month, police say.
The women were all in the area of Bailey Crossroads when a man approached them from behind and fondled and grabbed their buttocks as well as between their legs before fleeing, according to Fairfax County Police. The fondler did not say anything to the women before the assaults occurred.
The women range in age between 20 and 40 years old. The first reported incident occurred March 22 and the latest victim came forward on April 19. Each incident occurred between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.
None of the fondling victims were physically injured, police say.
The women have not been able to provide police with an accurate description because of the sudden and quick manner in which the incident occurred. Police say the same man may be responsible for each of the assaults.
Authorities believe there may be witnesses to the assaults that have not yet spoken to police.
