All News 99.1 WNEW

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A vigil was held in Baltimore Saturday night for 17-year-old Michael Mayfield, who was shot multiple times and killed Wednesday just weeks before his high school graduation.

Baltimore Police are asking the public for help in finding the person responsible for the shooting.

The vigil was held at the James Mosher baseball field where the all-star pitcher learned to play baseball. Among the crowd were some of Mayfield’s teammates.

Police say the shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 where they found Mayfield shot multiple times in the 2300 block of Lyndhurst Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male possibly in his late teens, early 20s. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and tennis shoes.
