LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who injured two deputies as he attempted to flee from the scene of a larceny at the Costco in Sterling, Va.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Costco on Price Cascades Plaza just before 4 p.m. Saturday for a report of a larceny in progress. A man was attempting to take televisions from the store, police say.

Deputies say they confronted the man and attempted to stop him from leaving the area. As the man got into his vehicle, he closed the driver’s side door on a deputy’s hand, police say.

A second deputy tried to grab the suspect through his window, but police say he drove away, dragging the deputy for about 60 feet and striking a patrol car.

Both deputies were taken to a local hospital and have since been released.

The suspect was driving a 2004-2006 model Acura with New York tags.
