D.C. Officer Under Investigation Found Dead in Apartment

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A D.C. officer under investigation was found dead in his Southeast D.C. apartment Saturday afternoon.
Authorities say the body of Johnny Jones, 56, was found inside his apartment in the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Avenue SE just after 3 p.m. Saturday. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
There were no signs of trauma or indications of foul play, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officials say Jones was a veteran officer and had been taken off duty since April 14 due to an internal investigation. Details of the investigation have not been released.
