LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — It seems that D.C. never goes long without having an animal internet darling.
There was Rusty, the National Zoo’s red panda who escaped from his enclosure last June, the snowy owl who was perched downtown for several days in January, the adoptable Sochi dogs and, of course, Bao Bao the baby panda.
Now, all eyes are on a baby squirrel fitted with a tiny, adorable cast courtesy of City Wildlife.
According to the rehabilitation center’s Facebook page, the kitten (yes, baby squirrels are referred to as kittens) suffered a bloody nose, a broken tooth and a broken ankle when she tumbled 75 feet from a nest.
However, the experts City Wildlife say she should heal very quickly.
