Maryland State Police Investigating Deadly Home Invasion

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Maryland State Police are investigating a home invasion that left a 72-year-old man dead and another injured in Salisbury, Md.

Investigators say the home invasion occurred around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning on the 27000 block of Pemberton Drive. The 72-year-old man, Donald G. Mariner, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second person was transported to a local hospital.

The second victim told police he had been hit with a blunt object. His identity is not being released at this time due to concerns for his safety, police say.

The suspect is described as an African American male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The investigation is ongoing, and investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit have taken the lead in this investigation.
