WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – On Tuesday, Domino’s Pizza changed the game, launching it’s new “Specialty Chicken” item, which can best be described, in concept, as pizza with chicken nuggets for crust instead of bread, or as the food chain so eloquently self-describes: Our boneless chicken covered in toppings, sauces and cheeses.
Here’s a better description, perhaps, from “Washington” magazine:
“The Domino’s dish relieves the stress of picking between crispy bits of bird and a Hawaiian pie during an attack of the munchies, with combinations such as the “spicy jalapeño pineapple,” topped with mango-habanero sauce, melty mozzarella and cheddar, peppers, and pineapple.”
106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier assumed the laborious chore of trying all four variations of the new item — Classic Hot Buffalo, Spicy Jalapeno-Pineapple, Sweet BBQ Bacon, Crispy Bacon & Tomato — offering their solemn commentary thereafter.
“Air conditioning, the wheel, sliced bread and now this chicken-pizza situation,” Rouhier said. “Thank God we live in these times.”
“I was this happy once,” Paulsen said. “That’s when I first purchased NFL Sunday Ticket. Since then, all my days have just been a buildup to this one, to be that happy again.”
The best of the four, Paulsen noted, is the barbecue offering, with the buffalo chicken coming in a close second.
Asked to describe the specific ingredients he was consuming, Danny said, “In ancient Greek mythology, the gods consumed nectar. I believe today we’re all Greek gods.”
Asked to be more specific, he added, “The residual sound manifested in the taste, when angels high five.”
“Overall, I would say three out of the four are three of the best things I’ve ever had in my entire life,” said program director Chris Kinard. “I don’t know if this is really pizza, but it is really delicious.”
