LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night after he ran into a car on I-95, flew off of his bike and was hit by a tractor trailer in Prince George’s County, police say.

A preliminary investigation by Maryland State Police indicates a man was riding at a high speed near Route 212 around 7 p.m. when his Suzuki GSX-R 600 motorcycle struck a Volkswagen – causing the motorcyclist to lose control.

The man, whose name has yet to be released, then became airborne and landed on the highway where he was hit by a tractor trailer, according to authorities.

The motorcyclist died at the scene and no one in the two other vehicles was injured.

Several lanes of southbound I-95 in Prince George’s County were closed as police investigated the crash. Lanes have since reopened.
