Man Struck, Killed by Two Cars While Crossing Street

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by two cars overnight in Takoma Park, Md.

The preliminary investigation indicates that 32-year-old Walter Franco-Chinchilla, of Hyattsville, was crossing New Hampshire Avenue just before midnight on Saturday when he was struck by a car, Prince George’s County Police say.

Moments later, according to authorities, Franco-Chinchilla was laying in the roadway when a second car struck him.

Both drivers stayed on the scene.

Investigators believe Franco-Chinchilla was not in a crosswalk when he was struck, and excessive speed does not appear to have been a factor.
