LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A man with a distinct eye patch who robbed a bank across the street from the Prince George’s County Courthouse in Upper Marlboro on Tuesday has been linked to several other robberies in the area, police say.
The man walked into the bank, located in the 14000 block of Church Street, shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and pulled a gun and demanded cash, according to Prince George’s County Police. He fled the area in an older-model gray station wagon after being given an unknown amount of cash.
Police say a dye bag with the cash exploded and money flew out of the car. Officers recovered the money.
Authorities believe the man robbed several stores in the southern region of Prince George’s County over the past few weeks:
- The Maxway in the 4200 block of Branch Avenue on March 28, 2014, at about 9:00 pm
- The Aldi Foods store in the 6300 block of Livingston Road on April 3, 2014, at about 8:15 pm
- The 7-11 in the 5500 block of Livingtson Road on April 7, 2014, at about 7:30 am
- The Radio Shack in the 6100 block of Livingston Road on April 7, 2014, at about 5:45 pm
Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact police.
