WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Washington Redskins re-signed 28-year-old linebacker Rob Jackson on Friday.
Jackson, a six-year NFL veteran, became a free agent this offseason after establishing himself as a key cog in the Redskins linebacking corps over the last two seasons.
His breakout season came in 2012 – when he tallied 4.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 1 touchdown, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and 35 total tackles – after spending his first four seasons coming off the Redskins bench.
Last season, Jackson recorded 17 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 interception in 12 starts, after missing the first four games on suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Terms of Jackson’s deal were not disclosed.
