Police Investigating Death of Man While In Custody

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Glenarden Police say that a man died while in custody and appeared to be under the influence.

Police say they responded to the 2800 block of Red Oak Lane and discovered a black man staggering across the parking lot. When officers tried to talk to the man, they say he appeared to be under the influence of phencyclidine, or PCP.

While trying to identify the man and transport him to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation due to his behaviors, police say he became unresponsive. The man was then transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

The man was identified as 32-year-old Calvin Kelly Lee. The investigation is ongoing.
