WASHINGTON (WNEW) — It has been six months and 11 days since the Washington Nationals last played at home — splitting a double header with Miami Marlins.
They went on to lose four of the final six games in a lackluster road swing to cap a respectable, but disappointing 86-76 second-place season that began with a “World Series or bust” proclamation.
But hope springs eternal and the Nats find themselves among the favorites to win the World Series this year under first-year skipper Matt Williams.
After sweeping a three-game series against the New York Mets at Citi Field, the Nats are hoping to put their first home curly W of the season today against the Atlanta Braves.
