WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The mystery behind which jersey number DeSean Jackson will wear for the Redskins appears to be unraveling, with team quarterback Robert Griffin III quelling rumors he may be sacrificing his NFL top-selling No. 10.

The day-long mystery began not long after the Redskins announced Jackson had signed his contract — when the receiver alluded to Griffin possibly dropping No. 10 — in his first conference call with Washington reporters.

“I definitely am familiar on the No. 10 [worn by] Robert Griffin,” Jackson said roughly around 2 p.m., via CSN Washington. “We’ve talked about it a little bit. But that isn’t a decision that’s been made yet so far.”

Shortly thereafter, at around 3:30 p.m, Jackson sent out a tweet, along with a link to an Instagram photo, which served to further confuse fans.

Finally, around 5:45 p.m., fans received the breakthrough they’d been awaiting, when fellow Skins receiver Aldrick Robinson — currently No. 11 — sent out this tweet:

Then Griffin dropped what seems the finally nail in the coffin on the discussion (at approx. 8:51 p.m.).

Also, apparently Jackson elaborated on the jersey dilemma in an interview he taped with Larry Michael:

“Me and RGIII talked about it, but you know it will probably be impossible to make that (happen), especially with all the jerseys the league had to print up,” Jackson told Michael. “So right now I’ve just been talking to Jay (Gruden) , talked to Bruce (Allen) about it. I’ll probably just  wear a single digit until the regular season starts. And then once  the regular season starts, we’ll figure out what I’ll wear. But we don’t know yet.”

So … No. 11, then?
