Nationals to Offer Their Own Beer: ‘The 1500 South Cap Lager’
WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Nats Park will feature a brand new craft beer, brewed by D.C.-based Atlas Brew Works exclusively for the Washington Nationals.
“The 1500 South Cap Lager” – named after the address of Nats Park – is a 4.8% ABV Helles lager brewed to go down smooth on sunny days in the ballpark.
“The 1500 is an American spin on a traditional German style pale lager,” said Will Durgin, Atlas’ Head Brewer. “It features light malt notes and earthy American hops.”
The beer will be available at locations throughout the three levels of Nats Park, the Red Porch Restaurant and in the Center Field Plaza.
“We are excited to have Atlas in the ballpark this season and even more excited to work with the Nationals on an exclusive beer for our favorite baseball club.” said Atlas CEO Justin Cox.
“The Nationals are making a big push to include local food and drink in the ballpark and The 1500 will be a great local option for fans,” said Jonathan Stahl, Senior Director of Guest Experience and Hospitality.
“The 1500” launches at the Nats home opener on Friday, April 4.
Atlas says it will also rotate other beer offerings at the District Draft carts throughout the season, including Rowdy, a hop-forward American-style Rye ale; District Common, a California Common featuring Czech Saaz hops; and Home Rule, an India Pale Lager featuring Waimea hops from New Zealand.
