LANHAM, Md. (WNEW/AP) — Baltimore police say the lockdown has been lifted and there is no active shooter on the Stevenson University campus, despite earlier reports claiming there was a shooter on campus.
An active shooter was reported at Stevenson University, at the Owings Mills campus, according to a text message sent out to students Monday afternoon.
Students were being told to “shelter in place until further notice.”
Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman Elise Armacost told reporters Monday afternoon at the university’s Owings Mills campus that officers found a pellet gun and are talking with two students. She said they aren’t suspects, and it is still unclear whether any crime was committed.
The school posted on its website shortly after 5 p.m. that it was safe for students to move about.
The police department says on its official Twitter account that the investigation began when two people saw what they thought was a person with a gun and called 911 about 2:25 p.m.
