Police: Girl Abducted, Sexually Assaulted While Waiting For School Bus

LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A Virginia man is accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a girl who was waiting for her school bus, police say.

A 12-year-old girl told Fairfax County Police that a man grabbed her and pulled her into his apartment in the 8500 block of Highland Lane as she waited for her school bus inside the apartment building around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Walter Yomar Gomez-Lemus, 22, allegedly grabbed her and touched her inappropriately, according to authorities. The girl was eventually able to break free and run to her bus.

The incident was then reported to police and school administrators.

The victim did not require medical attention.

With a description of the suspect, officers were able to locate him at an apartment in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue.

Gomez-Lemus was arrested and has been charged with abduction with intent to defile and aggravated sexual battery.
