Bryce Harper Ejected from Spring Training Game

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Bryce Harper was ejected in the top of the 4th inning of the Nationals spring training game against the Cardinals Wednesday afternoon.

Harper was thrown out of the game, by Jeff Gosney, immediately after shouting something in the direction of the first base umpire after being thrown out at first on a timely ground ball, which initiated a close call, Dan Kolko reports.

While it’s uncertain whether Harper was voicing his frustration with himself, or with the call, Harper turning back towards the umpire prior to shouting would suggest the latter.

Nationals manager Matt Williams charged onto the field to dispute the call, and the ensuing tossing.

Gosney becomes the latest Major League umpire to send Harper to the showers prematurely.

Harper was tossed by John Hirschbeck in May 2013, and Hunter Wendelstedt two months later.

Spring training baseball has never exuded more Natitude.

Head over to for Kolko’s comprehensive blow-by-blow of Harper’s ejection.

Baseball Tonight captured the heated exchange.
