WASHINGTON — Police in Washington say two people are dead after a multiple-vehicle crash in northeast Washington in which one driver was traveling in the wrong direction on a roadway.

The Metropolitan Police Department says the crash happened around 5 p.m. Saturday on Kenilworth Avenue NE.

Police spokesman Officer Paul Metcalf says the driver of a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Kenilworth Avenue NE struck two other vehicles, a Chevrolet Envoy and a GMC Acadia, before hitting a wall. The Acadia then struck two parked vehicles.

Metcalf says the driver of the Tahoe died. He was identified as 35-year-old Brian Duncan of Mount Ranier, Md.

Also killed was the driver of the Acadia, 50-year-old Edgar Garcia of Odenton, Md.

Metcalf says the accident remains under investigation.
