LANHAM, Md. — Police say they are looking for a man who allegedly strangled and attempted to abduct a woman in Woodbridge, Va. Thursday night.

Prince William County police say they responded to a parking lot located near Potomac Mills mall just before 9:30 p.m. The victim, a 34-year-old woman from Lorton, reportedly told police that she was standing next to her vehicle after getting off of work when she was approached by a man who asked her for directions.

During the encounter, police say the man grabbed the woman and began choking her. According to police, the man demanded the woman’s car keys and attempted to force her into the backseat, but fled on foot after the struggle. The woman reported minor injuries, police said.

A K-9 was used to search for the man, but was unable to locate him. The man is being described as Hispanic, between 20-25 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with a thin build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, and a black beanie-style cap.

Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to call Prince William County Police Department at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS.
