Robbery Suspect Shot, Killed By Police After Chase On I-95
LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — A man was shot and killed by police following a pursuit that ended at a popular rest area along I-95 just north of Baltimore early Friday morning.
Police first spotted the man while responding to a possible burglary at a Target in Aberdeen. An officer was injured when the man rammed his car into a police cruiser before fleeing the scene.
Authorities say the pursuit, which included local law enforcement as well Maryland State Police, continued in both the north and southbound directions of I-95.
The chase ended on the southbound entrance ramp to the Maryland House rest area when police shot the suspect. He was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma and later pronounced dead.
Police have not released the man’s identity.
Authorities say the ramp to the Maryland House will be closed for several hours during the investigation.
