Germantown Fire Injures 3, Displaces 13

LANHAM, Md. — Thirteen people are displaced and three people are injured following a second-alarm fire that occurred in Germantown, Md. late Thursday night.

Montgomery County firefighters say they responded to the blaze around 11 p.m. in the 20200 block of Shipley Terrace. The fire started on the second floor, spread to the third floor and continued through the roof, according to fire department officials. Flames could be seen shooting from the complex.

Three adults were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and three apartments are damaged as a result, officials say. It is estimated to cost around $600,000 in damages.

The Montgomery County Fire Department is still investigating what caused the blaze.
