LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) – A woman was assaulted behind a D.C. school early Sunday morning and police are looking for her attacker.

The victim was walking in the area of the 1500 block of Morris Road in Southeast around midnight when a man approached the woman and grabbed her around her neck, forcing her behind a nearby school, police say.

He then attempted to sexually assault her, but the woman was able to fight him off and run away.

The man, wanted for assault with intent to commit first-degree sexual abuse, is described as 5-foot-7, black, medium build and in his 30s. He has a low haircut and was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt, according to authorities.

Anyone with information or sees the suspect is advised to not take action, but immediately call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
