WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – DeAngelo Hall called into the Washington, D.C.-based “Grant and Danny Show” on 106.7 The Fan on Friday, to expound upon his thoughts on Seahawks corner Richard Sherman, with whom he went toe-to-toe with in a Twitter squabble the night before.
Hall, who’s taken great umbrage with Sherman asserting himself as the NFL’s top corner back, doesn’t even rank his fellow corner within the top three at their position in the league.
“I don’t think he does crack that Top 3” Hall said, ranking corners Aqib Talib (Broncos), Patrick Peterson (Cardinals), and Darrelle Revis (Patriots) ahead of Sherman.
“I’ll take those three guys against A.J. Green, Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson, who [are] probably the top three receivers in the game right now, Hall said. “I’ll take those three corners on those three receivers.”
While Hall seemed very upfront about where he feels Sherman is lacking, with regard to the other corners mentioned, he also seemed conscious of where he himself fits into the discussion.
“This kid seems to always get the ball when it’s thrown his way, but teams always seem to throw his way,” Hall said.
“When you’re at the top of your game, guys don’t throw your way,” he would say.
“When I was that guy, I went to Pro Bowls with 3 picks and 4 picks, because teams knew, ‘Heck, we don’t want to throw it his way. When we do, he picks it off.’ I mean I rarely got targeted in those days, but I still made the Pro Bowl,” Hall said. “So for this kid to be at 8 picks, and 7 picks and 6 – it just kind of blows my mind.”
More to come on this.
