Dana White Open to CM Punk Fighting in UFC: ‘I’d Talk to Him About It’

by Chris Lingebach

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – While Dana White flatly denied having conversations with professional wrestler CM Punk about entering the UFC ranks, he did admit he’d be open to the idea.

White was asked about his interest in Punk on Friday, in an interview with Chad Dukes and Lavar Arrington on 106.7 The Fan.

“We have literally never talked about business,” White said. “I like him. He’s a fan. I’ve heard rumors out there, and he and I have been around each other and been together – he has never ever – I’ve never talked to him about wrestling and he’s never talked to me about fighting. I have no idea.”

Punk abruptly left the WWE in January, walking out after the “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view. Since then, it’s been anybody’s guess as to what he’s been up to, and what he’ll do next.

Many (many, many, many) have speculated Punk’s WWE departure is a deeply-thought-out work, and he’ll soon return.

Others have taken that extra step, and are of the belief Punk left with the intent of leaving for good, due to mounting frustrations with the sports entertainment business, and his growing will to test his mixed martial arts skills in the UFC.

“Would you be open to it?” White was asked.

“Um. I mean, yea,” he answered. “I guess if he wanted to fight, I’d talk to him about it.”

White would also reassure UFC fans that Georges St-Pierre will return to the UFC and “get his title back.”
