Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Apartment Building In Odenton

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A massive three-alarm fire gutted a garden-style apartment building in Anne Arundel County late Friday morning.
The fire began around 10 a.m. in the 2100 block of Peaceful Way in Odenton. The blaze quickly intensified, prompting a call for a third alarm around 11 a.m. The entire third floor of the building collapsed during the inferno.
It took as many as 68 firefighters from numerous jurisdictions to bring the blaze under control by 12:30 p.m., according to WNEW’s Kevin Rincon.
Camera footage taken from a helicopter showed flames shooting out of the roof of the building.
Firefighters do not believe anybody was inside the apartment where the fire began. Others inside the building were able to safely evacuate, according to an Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesperson.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
As many as 30 units are located in the burning building.
