WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – A few Nationals players notably showed up to spring training with monster beards.
Some have since shaved their beards. Others haven’t.
(The organization is even hosting a “Beard-A-Palooza Weekend” in the upcoming season.)
One Nationals player who has remained true to his (mammoth) beard is first baseman Adam LaRoche.
In an interview with the Junkies on 106.7 The Fan on Friday, LaRoche engaged in this choice conversation about his beard.
Lurch: When is that coming off?
LaRoche: What’s that?
Lurch: The beard.
LaRoche: It’s not.
Lurch: Oh, it’s not? The whole year?
LaRoche: We’ll see. It’ll be around for a little while.
Lurch: But you’ll trim it down a little bit.
LaRoche: I doubt it.
Cakes: : See, he’s a manly man. He doesn’t worry about trimming his beard.
EB: Don’t you worry about, if you get a donut in there or something? Like, if I give you a powdered donut, you’re gonna get like white stuff all in there.
LaRoche: Yea, but. If it happens, it happens.
Cakes: He goes out in the woods and kills animals.
JP: I forget, are you married?
LaRoche: I am.
JP: Does the wife appreciate the beard? Or is it an annoyance to her? How does that work?
LaRoche: Uh. Nah, it was. It’s growing on her. We’ve been together 13 years, so she’s used to stuff like this happening.
“It’s growing on her,” says the first baseman with the massive beard growing on his face.
So for all you beard admirers out there, LaRoche’s beard appears in no danger of being trimmed, groomed, or God forbid, shaven off.
Here are five photos, taken from five varying vantage points, of Adam LaRoche’s killer beard.
There were other things discussed besides LaRoche’s beard. If you have any interest, you can hear the full interview in the audio clip below.
