UPDATED: March 6, 2014 6:10 a.m.

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A popular restaurant in Temple Hills suffered significant damage when an out-of-control SUV crashed into the side of the building Wednesday afternoon.

The vehicle plowed into Danny’s Restaurant, located in the 3300 block of Branch Avenue, trapping the driver for about 15 minutes around 4 p.m., according to Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesperson Mark Brady. The man, believed to be in his 30’s, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger inside the vehicle was also treated for injuries, Brady said.

Employees and customers inside the restaurant were not injured.

Authorities have condemned the restaurant due to significant structural damage.

Police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
