Bryce Harper had said he'd worked out hard in the offseason, often tweeting photos of himself hitting the weights. But until this photo surfaced of Harper, prior to a Nats spring training game against the Braves on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, the mass he’d packed on perhaps hadn’t been so evident. WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Everyone knew Bryce Harper would likely report to spring training for the Nationals a little on the thicker side, largely due to his relentless offseason workout program — of which he’d even given fans a glimpse via Twitter.

Harper: “Trout’s Very Good, Machado’s Really Good, I’ve Been to the NL East Title”

Until now, perhaps no spring training photo has better illustrated just how much mass the 21-year-old slugger has packed on.

Look at this photo of Harper, taken prior to the Nats’ 8-4 loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

For some perspective, here’s a photo from Harper’s MLB debut in 2012:

“I think he’s like a 30-year-old man trapped in a kid’s body,” a teammate to Harper said.

“He looks like Brian Urlacher out there playing left field,” another teammate said.
