Caps Acquire Dustin Penner for 4th-Round Pick

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Washington Capitals have acquired 31-year-old left winger Dustin Penner from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 2014 4th-round draft pick, the team announced on Tuesday.

Penner — 6’4″ and 247 pounds — is currently playing on a one-year contract, which will expire following the 2013-14 NHL season.

He has 150 goals and 307 total assists in his nine-year career spent between the Ducks, Oilers and Kings.

Through 49 games this season, Penner has 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists).

Penner has won two Stanley Cups in his career: with the Ducks in 2007 and the Kings in 2012.

He likes the movie “Rounders.”

The Caps may not be done dealing yet — the NHL trade deadline is Wednesday at 3 p.m.
