Elementary School Locked Down As Police Hunt Fleeing Suspects

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Bel Air Elementary School in Dale City was locked down as police searched for suspects who ran from officers during a traffic stop near the school Friday morning.

Three people initially ran from the stolen car near Dale Boulevard and Forestdale Avenue following a traffic strop, Prince William County police say. One person has been apprehended and a helicopter and K-9 units are being used in the search for the remaining suspects.

Prince William County Public Schools officials say the building was locked down as a precaution and that all students were safe was throughout the process.

One fleeing suspect is described as a black male, roughly 5 feet 5 inches tall and 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans with a blue shirt carrying a dark colored backpack.

A description for the second suspect was not immediately available.
