Teen Struck, Killed By VRE Train in Fairfax County

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A teenager died after being struck by a Virginia Railway Express train in Burke on Wednesday morning.
All morning Manassas line trains were canceled and VRE will run on an “S” schedule during the afternoon and evening commute.
Metro is honoring VRE tickets for stranded passengers.
Fairfax County Police say 15-year-old Jack Chen was struck in the 11500 block of Clara Barton Road, about 3 miles south of Burke Center Station, around 5:35 a.m. The train operator was able to stop the train and called 911 as soon as the collision occurred.
Chen was pronounced dead at the scene at the scene, fire officials say.
Passengers were bused to the Falls Church Metro station after being held on the train for hours due to cold conditions.
