Man Charged With Impersonating a Cop After Flashing Badge to Off-Duty Officer

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A 20-year-old Severn man has been charged with impersonating a police officer after he was involved in a road rage incident with an off-duty cop from a different county.

Police say an off-duty Prince George’s County officer was driving her personal vehicle on Dorsey Road in Hanover when a Chevy Impala pulled up next to her and the driver displayed a silver badge while yelling at her through the window.

The driver then pulled ahead of the officer’s car, slowed down and started slamming on the brakes. He also kept changing lanes so she could not pass. The officer finally pulled off the road and into a parking lot as the driver continued on Dorsey Road. She then called Anne Arundel County police about the incident.

After an investigation, authorities identified the suspect as private investigator Jack Tyler Chandler.

Chandler surrendered himself at the Northern District Station after a warrant was issued.
