WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Police in Prince George’s County are asking for the community’s help in identifying the suspect who sexually assaulted an elderly woman in her Riverdale home on Friday.

Police were called to the 6100 block of 63rd Avenue at approx. 9:40 p.m. for a report of sexual assault.

Upon their arrival, they learned the victim had been sexually assaulted by a man who broke into her home. She told police she heard someone in her home and when she went to check on the noise, the suspect grabbed and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect later fled from the home.

Officers searched the neighborhood extensively, and plan to revisit the area Saturday at 6 p.m. to distribute flyers and speak to members of the community.

“All sexual assaults are troubling, but for a man to target such a vulnerable member of our community is egregious,” said Police Chief Mark Magaw. “Our detectives are committed to finding and arresting this suspect.”

Police describe the suspect as a 20-year-old Hispanic or Pacific Islander male, about 5’2” and roughly 150 pounds with dark curly hair.

Anyone with information is urged to call the police at (301) 772-4908.
