WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – In what could be a sneak peek at the 2016 Democratic presidential primary, the latest Gallup poll shows former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with a higher approval rating than Vice President Joe Biden.
59 percent of Americans say they view Mrs. Clinton favorably, though that’s down from the 64 percent she averaged while serving in the Obama administration.
Mr. Biden’s image is not quite as positive, 46 percent of Americans have a favorable image of the vice president, while 42 percent view him unfavorably.
Though it’s not a head-to-head matchup, and the election is not for another two-and-a-half years, the poll gives some insight into how the American people feel about these potential candidates.
The presidential campaign won’t begin in earnest until after the mid-term elections in November. Neither Clinton nor Biden have said they will seek the presidency, though both sought their party’s nomination in 2008.
