LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — D.C. Police have arrested 51-year-old Kevin McDarin Johnson for the strangulation death of a woman in Southeast on Thursday.
Johnson was arrested Friday evening in connection with the death of 48-year-old Detra Martin, whom police found unconscious inside a home in the 800 block of Southern Avenue around 11 p.m.
She was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Chief Medical Examiner has ruled her death a homicide from asphyxia due to strangulation.
A police spokesman did not immediately know the relationship between Martin and Johnson, and it wasn’t immediately clear if Johnson had a lawyer.
