Boehner Buys Florida Condo
WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – House Speaker John Boehner recently purchased a condo in southwest Florida sparking speculation about his future in Congress.
CBS News reported that the Republican’s new home is located in the coastal enclave of Marco Island and cost $835,000 according to Collier County public records. Boehner and his wife put $185,000 down on the condo and will mortgage the rest.
His spokesman Michael Steel explained that people shouldn’t read too much into Boehner’s new condo.
“This area of Florida has been the Boehners’ family vacation spot for many years, and rather than continue to put money into vacation rentals year after year, they decided to buy a condo,” Steel said to CBS News. “Their home is in West Chester, Ohio, and will continue to be.”
Boehner has stated in the past that he doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon.
