WASHINGTON — Young men training to become Catholic priests in Washington have some new classroom space and other facilities.

Cardinal Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, celebrated Mass on Saturday and dedicated a new wing at Blessed John Paul II Seminary.

The seminary is located near The Catholic University of America and was established in 2011 to prepare college-age men and young adults to eventually become priests.

The archdiocese says the seminary is already at capacity after just three years. With the expansion, it will now have space for 50 men.

The new wing includes 20 student rooms, larger classrooms, a new common room, an exercise facility, faculty quarters and a library and reading room. It’s called D’Aniello Hall in honor of Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello, whose donation funded the construction.
