CHANTILLY, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — The body of an adult male was discovered in the landing-gear of an aircraft at Washington Dulles International Airport, according to airport officials.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the ground crew assigned to the South African Airways airliner located the body in the wheel well of the plane, an Airbus A340, which was parked at a remote parking area of the airport.

Airport officials say the circumstances of the man’s death are under investigation. The body, which has not been identified, will be turned over to the Fairfax County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The investigation did not affect operation of any of the airport’s terminals or runways.
