WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — District of Columbia fire officials say a person was found dead after a house fire in northwest Washington.
Fire department spokesman Tim Wilson says the age and gender of the victim have not been determined. He says it’s too early to tell if the fire was weather-related.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 4600 block of 4th Street NW shortly after 5:30 a.m. Thursday and extinguished the fire in about a half-hour. The body was found on the second floor of the home.
Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
