27-Year-Old Man Dies in Oxon Hill Collision

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) – Police say a Fort Washington man is dead after his car struck a tree in Oxon Hill overnight Sunday.

Prince George’s County Police say 27-year-old Jerry Garris, Jr. was traveling on Oxon Hill Road around 3 a.m. when — for reasons that remain unclear — his SUV veered off the road and hit a large tree.

Garris was the only person in the vehicle at the time. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to authorities, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are working to determine if speed played a factor in the crash.
