Russia Police Tell American Gold Medalist To Get Off Grass Near Stadium

SOCHI, Russia (CBS DC) — One American gold medalist had a “get off my lawn” moment while in Sochi.

Moscow-born Nastia Liukin, who won Olympic gold in gymnastics during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, was told by Russian police to get off the grass near Fisht Olympic Stadium.

“Being yelled at by a Russian policeman telling me to get off the grass,” Liukin tweeted.

Maybe she was yelled at because they needed to spray paint the grass.

Foreign Policy columnist and Interpreter Magazine editor-in-chief Michael Weiss caught a woman spray-painting the grass green Wednesday.

“Woman painting brown grass green at Sochi,” Weiss tweeted.

Liukin is working as a reporter for NBC News during the Olympics.
