LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Two young children were discovered inside of a Southeast apartment where the bodies of two adults were found Thursday afternoon, Metropolitan Police say.

The children were unharmed and barely toddler age, according to WNEW reporter George Mesthos.

Police were called to the 1600 block of 17th Street SE where they found a man and woman with gunshot wounds inside the apartment around 4 p.m.

The victims have been identified as Ervin Phillip Ingraham and Ronnetta Hurley-Brown. Both were 21 years old.

Detectives are investigating the deaths as a double homicide.

The apartment is a short distance from Kramer Middle School and Anacostia Senior High School.

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
