LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The Piano Man is coming to the nation’s capital this summer.
Billy Joel will perform at Nationals Park in southeast Washington in July, the Washington Nationals and District of Columbia announced Thursday.
The performance marks Joel’s first solo headlining appearance at the ballpark.
The concert will be 8 p.m. July 26.
Nats season ticket holders can purchase pre-sale tickets starting Jan. 30. American Express card members can purchase pre-sale tickets starting 10 a.m. Jan. 28 through 10 p.m. Jan. 31.
Tickets will go on sale to the public 10 a.m. Feb. 1 at nationals.com/billyjoel.
“Billy Joel’s music has been part of the fabric of our lives for more than 40 years, and we are thrilled to have him back at Nationals Park,” said Catherine Silver, Nationals Vice President of Ballpark Enterprises & Guest Experience, in a press release. “He electrified the crowd with his fantastic performance at our first-ever concert in 2009 and we know our fans will be excited to see him again this summer.”
Joel, a six-time Grammy award winner, performed alongside Elton John at Nats Park in 2009. That concert was the first the park hosted after it opened in 2008.
Joel also announced he will play at the US Airways Center in Phoenix on July 1 and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Aug. 2.
