The Redskins, ever-talented at hyping up a loyal but long-suffering fan base, released a teaser trailer for a motivational (but non-existent) movie on Thursday, to try to get fans riled up for the onset of the Jay Gruden era and the 2014 season.
Could this be another ploy by Dan Snyder to sell tickets? Obviously.
Should he be reprimanded for it? Not really.
For all the flaws he’s accused of having, Snyder is a business man first, and the Redskins are his prime investment. When it comes to pedaling tickets with creative promotional campaigns (that will help a fan base forget about a miserable season and begin looking forward), Snyder is an artist.
And after the 3-13 outcome 2013 resulted in, this may be his Mona Lisa.
The trailer — with the help of some crafty video splicing — juxtaposes nostalgia of the Redskins’ distant past with more recent highlights, conjuring up the all too familiar sentiment that the Redskins are on the verge of a renaissance; even knocking on the door of championship.
