Rally to End After-Dark Postal Delivery in D.C.

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Letter carriers in the Washington area are planning to rally Monday evening in an effort to stop nighttime delivery.

The “Justice for Letter Carriers, Injured, Wounded and Killed Delivering in the Dark” rally comes just a few months after the death of 26-year-old Tyson Barnette, who was shot and killed in November while delivering mail in the dark in Prince George’s County. No arrests have been made in Barnette’s death.

Letter carriers want to change their work schedules to put an end to after-dark delivery.

They plan to meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and march to the Post Office at L’Enfant Plaza.
