D.C. Woman Charged With Killing Infant Son by Drug Overdose

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) – A D.C. woman is charged with killing her infant son by overdosing him on medicine.

Authorities say an autopsy performed on Hakeem Brown revealed that the 1-month-old boy died from a drug overdose.

Police were called to a home in the 2900 block of Akron Place SE on Sept. 1, 2013 for an unconscious infant. When officers arrived, they found Brown not breathing. He was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The Chief Medical Examiner ruled that Brown died of “Promethazine intoxication” and ruled his death a homicide. Promethazine is an allergy drug used to treat a variety of symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and motion sickness.

D.C. police have an arrest warrant for Brown’s mother, 31-year-old Tisheena Brown. She is charged with second-degree murder.
