LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — An elderly man has died after a double stabbing in Georgetown early Sunday morning in what police say is a domestic fight between the couple and their son.

Police said 88-year-old Leroi Elliott was stabbed to death and his 81-year-old wife, Vaughan Elliot, was wounded inside their home in the 3300 block of Q Street NW around 6:30 a.m.

Vaughan was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The couple’s son, identified as 56-year-old Bradford Nelson Elliott, also lived in the home and was taken to the hospital for hand injuries.

Bradford, according to police, had a history of mental illness, but they didn’t describe the specific nature of his illness. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Police say Leroi suffered an undetermined number of stab wounds. He was found unconscious in an upstairs bedroom.
