Elderly Woman Pulled From Two-Alarm Fire In Laurel

LAUREL, Md. (CBSDC) — An elderly woman is hospitalized in serious condition after firefighters were able to pull her from a two-alarm townhouse fire in Laurel Thursday morning.

The woman was discovered as firefighters battled the blaze inside the home. Authorities have not released the woman’s identity.

“It was completely engulfed,” neighbor Denise Meyer told WNEW. “The flames were everywhere. They were shooting out of the window.”

The fire, which began shortly after 5 a.m., was brought under control within an hour, Howard County Fire Department officials say.

Firefighters from Montgomery, Prince Georges, and Anne Arundel counties assisted in extinguishing the flames.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
